Knowing what you value personally is an integral element to success, Jessica helps you find exactly what they are.
Personal values are important to being successful. If you have trouble making decisions and reaching goals, you may want to evaluate your personal values to tune in to what is unique about who you are. The spirit of who you are will be defined by your core values. If you are out of touch with the values that define who you are, others will lead your life for you. So, in order to lead a happy and successful life, take time to practice looking inward and touching base with what makes you outstanding and distinctive!
Observe how you feel when you read these questions. What do you think of? Self-observation creates awareness. Awareness creates transformation!
- What are your spiritual beliefs?
- Where do you go to find tranquility, solitude, or a connection to a higher power?
- Are you happy with your health? If not, why? If so, what do you do to maintain it, or to improve it?
- Who are your closest friends and why?
- What’s your family like? Are you close to them? Why or why not?
- How do you see yourself in the future?
Time to clarify your values
List several values that are important to you. Then narrow the list to 10 of your most important values. These are your core values. Understanding your core values gives you self-knowledge. It is important to live in alignment with your core values, because it creates self-esteem. Self-esteem can be damaged by not living in alignment with your core values. When you believe something and do the opposite, it can be disappointing to yourself and others around you. This can create depression, anger, frustration, and making the wrong choices for yourself. Your self-esteem is reflected in your choices and actions.
Also, consider how you learned these values. Did you pick up on them as a child from a teacher, a parent, T.V., or a friend? Will you honor these values, or have you just listed them unconsciously and will not be committed to them? Transformation and leading a lifestyle with passion, high self-esteem, and success takes commitment. Commitment takes values.
